Hello my glamorous friends 🙂

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to travel to beautiful Cannes. Nestled on the coast of the glamorous French Riviera, Cannes is a little piece of heaven. With its long beach, tiny streets and fashion boutiques, it really managed to make me forget about the stress of daily life. As you might know, the Cotê d’Azur is definitely not an ‘on-a-budget’ travel location, which leads me to what today’s blog is all about. I want to share with you how I got to Cannes and why do I believe that you are the one in control of your own life.

The story begins with a trip to House of Fraser for some much needed summer bronzer. I am not big on make-up but there are a few products that I use religiously (stay tuned for a post on that soon!). I have been using Guerlain’s Lingerie de Peau foundation for years, so naturally I headed to their stand for my purchases. Once I got there the lovely beauty consultant offered to do my make-up and as usual I ended up with not only the desired bronzer but also a lighter foundation that was perfect for summer. When I made my choice I was told that these two products actually qualify me to participate in a prize draw. The lady came to me with a bowl full of scratch cards and I told her to just pick one for me. To my big surprise my scratch card said that it is 1 out of 10 that have the chance to win a luxury trip to Cannes. And as they say, the rest is history.

A very gourmet starter salad (yes, there are flowers! 🙂 )
Goodbye coffee and sweet treats at the “Intuitions by J.”, a sweet paradise created by Jérôme de Oliveira. I had a gorgeous salted caramel profiterole-like dessert (way bigger though!) and George had a classic lemon pie.

I have to say that Guerlain organized one very luxurious weekend indeed! A very big ‘Thank you!’ goes to the lovely Celine, who arranged it all! We stayed in the gorgeous 5-star Five Seas Hotel and we were treated with luxury beauty products, a 3 course (more like a 7 course really 🙂 ) dinner at the hotel’s Michelin star restaurant and the most delicious macaroons I have tasted in my life by the by the World Pastry Champion, Jérôme De Oliveira. We were also quite lucky with the weather, which allowed us to spend the entire Saturday afternoon by the roof top pool of the hotel.

Yes, the holiday was heavenly, but there is something else I want to talk about and that is my belief that we have the power to control what happens to us. I don’t know what it is: karma, fate, hopes or dreams, but I certainly think that if we truly believe in something we can make it happen. From the moment in which I saw the lucky scratch card I was so sure that I will win the holiday. I remember calling George, who rationally explained to me that 10 % chance to win is not massive. I said nothing but secretly continued to believe that I am the lucky winner and on the 12th of August I got the email notifying me that my hopes were not in vain. This is not the first time something like this happens to me, but it is the first time the realization hit me so hard. I say that I am lucky all the time and I will continue to do so because this habit of mine channels a certain hope I am not ready to live without. I am not sure if it is luck or luck is just another name for something greater but I do think that positive mind equals a positive life. So next time when negativity creeps up in your mind, just remember to smile and keep on dreaming and believing: even if it does not help in that particular situation it is way better than a frown on your face 🙂
